FAQ's

Q: Why is the College of Mixology's tuition so much more than other schools?
A: When you do the math, our tuition costs are the same as our competitors. Other bartending schools charge less tuition because the cost is spread over 20 or more students, but so is the quality of the program and focus of the instructor. Our limited class sizes give students more for their money than any other program currently being offered. Our tuition costs are based on the quality and length of our program content, the quality of our instructors, limited class sizes, and the quality of learning tools and equipment we provide to our students. We are in the business of producing the best of the best, and the the old adage is true; "you get what you pay for", especially with education.

Q: Does the College of Mixology teach Flair Bartending?
A: No we do not. An industry master once said on the subject of flair bartending, “bartending is not a circus act.” There are many schools who teach flair, but we at the College of Mixology focus strongly on the mechanics of quality Mixology. We feel that flair bartending takes away from the seriousness of the craft.

Q: Do you offer Smart Serve Certification?
A: No, it is the student’s responsibility to become Smart Serve Certified. If we were to offer Smart Serve, we would have to charge more than it is already offered for to cover the time of the instructor. It is more practical for those interested in getting their Smart Serve Certification to do so independently.

Q: Does the College of Mixology offer training to businesses?
A: Yes, we offer training to many businesses. Please contact us for more details and to discuss your needs.

Q: Do you offer Wine Certification?
A: No, the reason for this being the same as why we don’t offer Smart Serve Certification. If we were to offer Wine Certification, we would have to charge more than it is already offered for to cover the time of the instructor.

Q: How do employers verify my certification?
A: Employers can verify your certification by sending your unique certificate number to us by email. When we verify that it’s valid, a response email verifying validity and details on subjects covered in the program will be sent.

Q: Do you offer group discounts?
A: Yes, we offer a 5% discount on course enrollment for groups of 10. The group must be registered under a single person. Please contact us for more details if you wish to enroll a group.

Q: Do you offer group Professional Certification to businesses at a discount?
A: Yes, we offer $100.00 off each applicant on groups of 8 or more.

Q: Do you offer job placement support to graduating students?
A: We don't need to. Students who graduate from our program do so because they are exceptional. Retaining employment should pose no problems at all.

Q: I've been a Bartender for many years, do I need to take the course to become certified? or can I just take the test?
A: The College of Mixology recognizes that there are many Bartenders/Mixologists out there who posses the high standards of knowledge and skills we teach in our school; through self learning and work experience. For this reason, the college has implemented a new program which allows for certification of Bartenders/Mixologists  without the course. Details on this certification process are posted in the "Professional Certification" menu of the site.
